Supply Chain
Scope 3 from your purchase orders, not estimates
For most manufacturers, Category 1 purchased goods and Category 4 upstream transport represent the largest and least-measured share of total emissions. Zevero extracts the activity data from your procurement records to produce defensible Scope 3 numbers.
Why Scope 3 is difficult
Spend-based estimates understate your Scope 3 by design
Spend-based estimates use economic input-output tables to approximate emissions per dollar of category spend. They are a starting point, not a disclosure-ready number. Investors, customers, and third-party verifiers now require activity-based data from your invoices and freight records wherever it exists.
- Purchase orders contain supplier name, material category, weight, and unit price. All four are inputs to a more accurate Scope 3 Category 1 calculation than a spend average.
- Freight invoices from your logistics providers include origin, destination, transport mode, and weight. Zevero extracts these to calculate Category 4 upstream transport emissions.
- Waste disposal invoices document the volume and disposal method for Category 5 waste in operations. This data is already in your facilities management records.
Supply chain data sources
Every document in your supply chain workflow maps to an emission category
Purchase orders and supplier invoices
Material type, quantity, and supplier mapped to Scope 3 Category 1 emission factors. Zevero supports both activity-based and hybrid spend-based approaches depending on available supplier data.
Freight and logistics invoices
Freight bills from sea, road, and air carriers processed for route, weight, and mode. Matched to Category 4 upstream transport factors from GLEC Framework and EPA MOVES.
Waste disposal records
Waste manifests and disposal invoices from landfill, recycling, and incineration operators matched to Category 5 waste-in-operations factors by disposal method and waste stream.
Disclosure-ready output
Scope 3 output in the format each framework requires
GHG Protocol Scope 3 Standard tables, CDP supply chain module data, and ISSB IFRS S2 climate disclosure format all generated from the same underlying activity data.
Turn your procurement records into Scope 3 data
Upload your last four quarters of purchase orders and freight invoices. Zevero processes the history and produces an activity-based Scope 3 baseline ready for disclosure.
